For over 10 years, Cultural Arts Research Ensemble (C.A.R.E.) has
worked to provide our community’s children and teens who are
underserved by other organizations with heritage-based cultural arts
programs that support development to their full individual
potential.
CARE funds have been used to positively impact thousands of lives
by:
- Providing cultural arts programming in public schools in
underserved communities with a high level of minority residents
- Promoting understanding by children and teens of their ethnic
and cultural heritage and the impact on their lives today, as a
means to more positive self-esteem
- Supplementing the tuition fees needed for individual dance
classes at Orlando School of Cultural Dance, for those children
and teens who are underserved and for whom heritage dance classes
would otherwise be unobtainable
CARE has been a catalyst in cultural dance and arts in Central
Florida since its founding in 1997. Under standard governmental
scrutiny, they have demonstrated administrative and fiscal
responsibility in handling public grants of up to $100,000.00 and
have successfully completed:
- 4 Mayor’s Education Partnership Grants with the City of
Orlando;
- 5 grants with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice
servicing youth-at-risk; and
- 7 annual African/Caribbean dance extravaganzas that have
received public acclaim and are the source of continued
programming on local television.
CARE is making a positive, measurable difference in the lives of
Orlando’s youth and in the Orlando community.
